5 O’clock Mixology is a passion project of the resident mixologist Mariam K, fondly known as MK4 being the youngest sister of 4, who has been been crafting custom infusions & mixing unusual cocktails for well over a decade.

What started as an innocent curiosity in late 2000’s to create a lavender martini at home quickly turned into an obsession for Mariam to find the perfect infusion methodology for locally grown & organic English lavender from a best friend’s backyard in Atherton, and lead into infusions of orange blossoms from Santa Clara and Jasmin flowers from Menlo Park. From flowers she moved onto creating red Satsuma Blood plum, Bartlett pear and Vranja quince liqueur infusions, all of which begged to have their own specialty cocktailed developed.
Hosting annual immersive art & costume ‘maker’ parties over the past decade, Mariam honed her infusion and mixology skills, and crafted new exotic & unusual cocktails to delight her 150+ thirsty guests. Her passion led her down the path of history and chemistry of elixirs, liqueurs & bitters, while she matured & enhanced her flavor profiling. Mariam quickly became well-known in her inner circles as the elixir master, designing custom concoctions for intimate celebrations to large fundraising events & weddings.
In 2021 she decided to offer her mixology services to the public, thus 5 O’clock Mixology was born.
An avid traveler, Mariam continually looks for exotic elixirs & cocktails worldwide. Her travels have taken her to Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore, Bali, Japan, Australia, Tasmania, Costa Rica, Cuba, and most recently Colombia in 2019 — these trips have contributed to her inspirations for new flavors & modern twists on the classics.
After the hibernation in 2020 and 2021, she is especially looking forward to trot the globe in search of the local, small-batch producers and taste all the world has to offer!
